Heritage Out of School Time (HOST)
|
HOST provides out of school time care to students in grades K-8 in the Mon Valley region. Out of school time care includes before and after school, holiday breaks, and in-service days on which the school districts are closed. While attending HOST the students are provided with an afternoon snack, guided with their homework, and engaged in age appropriate enrichment activities. All students are given the opportunity to be successful and achieve at their own progress.
Each week, students are involved in enrichment activities focusing on different aspects of their lives. The overall theme of the HOST program is to guide students in making healthy choices and become well rounded, educated individuals. Each classroom is staffed by a teacher (a college graduate with at least a bachelor’s degree in early education or elementary education, or in a related field with a child development associate (CDA) and an assistant teacher (who has either an Associates degree in early childhood or a CDA). The HOST program has earned a Star 4 rating, the highest available, from the Pennsylvania Keystone STARS program. HOST is a member of the National Association for the Education of Young Children (NAEYC), Pennsylvania Child Care Association (PACCA) and the National After-School Association (NAA) For information on enrolling your child in the HOST program, please contact Jodi Kelley, HOST Program Director, at 412.349.5394 or jkelley@heritageserves.org. Mission Minute
Kayla graduated from the 4 Kids Early Learning Center last spring. The thought of going to a new school, having new teachers and making new friends was a bit frightening. She told her mom that she was afraid that she wouldn't know any of the children in her new school. Fortunately, Kayla’s mom enrolled her in Heritage Out of School Program (HOST). As they walked into HOST, her mom was thrilled to see Kayla greeted by familiar friends and teachers from the 4 Kids Early Learning Center. Because Heritage focuses on continuum of services from cradle to work, children like Kayla have a safe, familiar place to learn and grow.
