HOST provides out of school time care to students in grades K-8 in the Mon Valley region. Out of school time care includes before and after school, holiday breaks, and in-service days on which the school districts are closed. While attending HOST the students are provided with an afternoon snack, guided with their homework, and engaged in age appropriate enrichment activities. All students are given the opportunity to be successful and achieve at their own progress.
Each week, students are involved in enrichment activities focusing on different aspects of their lives. The overall theme of the HOST program is to guide students in making healthy choices and become well rounded, educated individuals. Each classroom is staffed by a teacher (a college graduate with at least a bachelor’s degree in early education or elementary education, or in a related field with a child development associate (CDA)) and an assistant teacher (who has either an Associates degree in early childhood or a CDA).
The HOST program has earned a Star 4 rating, the highest available, from the Pennsylvania Keystone STARS program. HOST is a member of the National Association for the Education of Young Children (NAEYC), Pennsylvania Child Care Association (PACCA) and the National After-School Association (NAA) EnrollmentHeritage Out of School Time provides care to children in Kindergarten through 8th grade, Monday-Friday, 6:00-8:30 am and 3:00-6:00 pm on school days, during school district closures such as in-service days, holidays and snow delays.
