A group of students from Winchester Thurston visited Braddock yesterday for a volunteer day centered on the cleanup of North Braddock’s Ball Park, better known as “The Field”. The high school students, ranging in age all joined together to clear the field of a damaged tree. After a safety talk they learnt how to use chainsaws and a log splitter to chop tree logs down into usable firewood. Using the branches and tree debris, the students made a small contained bonfire to roast marshmallows for making S’mores, and cooking hotdogs. The students finished off the day with group photos and a rendition of Beyonce’s Irreplaceable.
A special thank you goes out to the students of Winchester Thurston who volunteer with Heritage helping to make Braddock a safe, beautiful, community where children have safe green spaces to exercise and play.
