The 2013 Chair-ity Auction & Cocktail Party was a huge success! More than 200 guests bid on 38 fabulously artistic pieces during an evening of great food, music and fun. Chair-ity featured a silent auction one of a kind chairs, rocking chairs, rocking horses, wooden toys, activity tables, dollhouses, art pieces that have been transformed by 35 local artists, including Johno Prascak, Chris Galiyas, Pittsburgh Public Theater’s Celeste Parrendo, and The Warhol’s Eric Shiner. A live auction was held for some of the most exclusive items, including a one-of-a-kind Steelers chair, autographed by Art and Dan Rooney. Thanks to the incredible generosity of our guests, committee, sponsors and artists we netted more than $80,000 to benefit the Heritage 4 Kids Early Learning Center! Chairing the event are Debbie and William Demchak, and presenting sponsor is PNC. Chair-ity features a silent auction one of a kind chairs, rocking chairs, rocking horses, wooden toys, activity tables, dollhouses, art pieces that have been transformed by 35 local artists, including Johno Prascak, Chris Galiyas, Pittsburgh Public Theater’s Celeste Parrendo, and The Warhol’s Eric Shiner. A live auction will be held for some of the most exclusive items, including a one-of-a-kind Steelers chair, autographed by Art and Dan Rooney. “The response for the local art community and corporate sponsors has been wonderful,” said Heritage Community Initiatives President & CEO, Michele Atkins. “The funds raised will be earmarked to continue the wonderful work our early learning center is able to accomplish in the Mon Valley,” continued Atkins. ![]() Pittsburgh Steelers by Chris Galiyas The event will benefit the Heritage 4 Kids Early Learning Center (4 Kids) in Braddock. 4 Kids, a nationally and regionally accredited childcare center, fosters early learning for children in underserved communities in the Mon Valley region of Pittsburgh. 95% of children enrolled at 4 Kids are from families at or below the poverty level. The education children receive at 4 Kids enables them to start grade school at the same level as their peers from more affluent families.
