On May 22, 2010 Heritage Community Initiatives participated in the Highmark Walk for a Healthy Community. Thanks to 155 Heritage supporters we were able to exceed our fundraising goal and raise $9,200 in support of programs that build stronger communities in the Mon Valley region.
The 56 walkers who braved the gray and rainy weather conditions to participate had a great time and came together to support a great cause. Heritage gave away two prizes; for her- a sophisticated bath and body basket and for him- a manly backpack full of tools, water coolers and other manly things. The winner of the bath and body basket was Nanette Livadas of Mt. Lebanon. The winner of the backpack was Marsha Mullins, Heritage employee.
Thanks to those who participated in the Highmark Walk for a Healthy Community we are reminded of the need to provide ways for residents of the communities we serve to make health a priority. Because of this support, one new initiative underway at Heritage is a playground on Braddock Avenue in which residents will be able to gather, socialize and build a stronger, healthier community.
We will be registering early for this event next year and projecting an even higher fundraising goal. We hope that we can count on you to help Heritage build stronger communities through your support of the Highmark Walk for a Healthy Community.
