Heritage Community Initiatives has announced four newly appointed officers of the Board of Directors: Mr. Fred Harnack, Chair; Dr. Martha Ezzell, PhD, Vice Chair; Mr. George Handelsman, Secretary; and Mr. Morton Stanfield, Treasurer.
Mr. Fred Harnack is General Manager of Environmental Affairs at the U.S. Steel Corporation and has been part of the Board of Directors at Heritage for six years. He started out working at the Edgar Thomson Plant in Braddock and continues to work within the community through Heritage. Having served previously as the Treasurer of the Board, Mr. Harnack is more than prepared to Chair the Executive Committee.
Dr. Martha Ezzell, PhD, a retired Professor of Rhetoric of Policy at Carlow University, has been a Board member at Heritage since October 2009. As a professor of the Professional Leadership Graduate Program, Dr. Ezzell’s experience in business, leadership and strategic planning will be a great asset.
A lawyer at the law office of the same name, Mr. George Handelsman is a six year member of the Heritage board of directors. He has been a generous donor to the Heritage 4 Kids Early Learning Center as well as the Heritage Chair-ity Auction Event. As secretary of the Executive Committee, Mr. Handelsman’s law experience and strong legal presence in the Mon Valley will be a strong asset for the organization.
Mr. Morton Stanfield from Dollar Bank has been a board member since October 2011. Mr. Stanfield has a strong financial background. His experience in Corporate Banking and investments will be prove to be invaluable as he simultaneously serves as Treasurer of the Board and Chair of the Finance Committee.
The differing career backgrounds of these highly professional individuals will bring varying knowledge and leadership styles to Heritage Community Initiatives. These appointments will be an asset to furthering the organization’s mission of enabling individuals and organizations to improve health, education, economic strength and social vitality in their communities.
