The Travel Navigation Center was established to respond to the significant call volume received by Heritage from individuals needing help to find “the fastest and least expensive” ways to get to multiple workplaces, centers of education and recurring health care appointments throughout Allegheny County. Common requests included individuals who secured a second job that was on the other end of the County from their home and had no idea of how to get there on-time … mothers whose children were referred to a physician in Cranberry and live in the Mon Valley … and patients requiring recurring radiology, oncology, rehabilitation or dialysis treatment who had no access to a vehicle.
To better respond to the growing need, TNC uses a case-management approach when designing a cost effective and efficient transportation solution considering ability to pay, age, disability and issues unique to the individual. There is no charge for this service; Heritage simply asks those served to respond to a follow-up call as well as complete a brief written survey asking about their satisfaction with the Travel Navigation Center’s recommendation. |
